The first 20 pages of the script is all set in a flashback and she said it literally scared the crap out her. Billy, the jaundiced little boy, is introduced. He has a somewhat indifferent but kind father but a very cold and calculating mother.
At Christmas he puts cookies under the Christmas tree. His mother tells him there is no need. She tells Billy that there is no Santa Claus because she killed him as she laughs. His father on the other hand gives him a present, probably the first one and last one he will ever receive.
The mother eventually has an affair with another gentleman. She subsequently kills off Billy's father to get him out of the way and sends Billy to the attic where he will remain for the next 10 or more years.
Meantime, the mother remarries and starts a new family. She has a daughter and is overly kind to her while she secretly keeps Billy alive in the attic. When the little girl questions the noises she hears her mother says simply, it's just reindeer...
(Talk about evil!)
Eventually Billy will re-emerge from the attic, obviously insanely disturbed after the life he has led and kills the mother and his "stepfather". Katie said, "I'm not going to tell you what happens to the little girl."
Fast forward a period of time and sorority sisters move into Billy's house and the frightening ensues. Does Billy come back for a visit? And what exactly did happen to the little girl? Hmmm...I can only assume that by prequel the fillmakers meant the flashback scene and by sequel it is the terrorizing of the sorority sisters by Billy's replacement, the little girl. Well, we will just have to wait and see!
Oh, and if you are a Katie Cassidy fan don't worry she says her character lives! She says, she thinks her character is the same as Jess from the original. She is a sweet, girl next door type. Stay tuned to the IESB for further updates!
