Tyrese Gibson to be Luke Cage
Author: Robert Sanchez

At the junket to promote his new film Annapolis starring James Franco, Tyrese Gibson talked about portraying Marvels' Luke Cage.

The comic book adaptation is about a former gang member who is framed for a crime he didn't commit. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him superstrength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Luke Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire.

Singleton has been attached to direct the Marvel comic book adaptation for Columbia Pictures for some time but casting has been up in the air. Screenplay by Ben Ramsey.

Luke Cage was Marvel's first African-American character to headline his own title, debuting June 1972.

Tyrese Gibson has already met with Marvel head Avi Arad and is very excited and committed to this project.

They are currently waiting for a second draft of the Luke Cage script and things will move from there.
