Chris, who happens to be a Hyperspace member, sent us the good stuff from Steve Sansweet's chat on Starwars.com today,

Mr. Sansweet,
When will Celebration III tickets go on sale? Also, how much will they be? Will there be a Hyperspace area for us Hyperspace members to meet each other? Thank you sincerely.

We expect tickets to go on sale by around the end of the summer. We are still working on details such as ticket prices. One of the best things about Celebration is a sense of community, and a place for like-minded fans to get together. So we will strive to have a special place for Hyperspace and Fan Club members.

Mr. Sansweet, where can you point people new to the Celebrations to go for information about it and how to prepare?

There's lots of information on Celebration II in the archives at Starwars.com, so you can do a search on that (it's in the Community section). Leading up to Celebration III, we will have a lot of news stories here and at starwarscelebration.com that will be a sort of guide to Celebration III.

Hi there Steve. How soon will i need to make hotel reservations and is there a lot of hotels in the area of celebration III.

Discount hotel rooms will go on sale around the same time as we do online ticketing in late summer. We have many hotel rooms blocked and I would strongly suggest waiting until the discounted rooms are posted to make your reservation. Indianapolis is a convention city, and there will be more than enough hotel rooms for everyone who wants one.

Were there any other cities considered while deciding on where to have Celebration 3?

Yes, we looked at several other major convention cities -- surprisingly, there weren't as many as you might think for what we needed -- and did come up with a few finalists. But when it became clear that we could get the dates that we wanted in Indianapolis it was a no-brainer. We love the city, and the center and we now have the ability to get even more space for our fans.

Will there be a Episode III sneak preview figure or figures before then end of the year? If so will it be a brand new character?

The preview figures -- and there will be some -- will most likely be released early in 2005. But that can always change, so stay flexible and stay alert.

hi there steve. At celebration 3, who are we expected to meet. unfortunaly i didnt get to attencd celebration 2.

We're really at the very early stages of planning the programming for Celebration, but I think it's very safe to say that we will have at least the same number of celebrities in 2005 as we did in 2002, and I'm talking about dozens.

Do you know yet weather or not there will be an exclusive figure for C3 like there was for C2? And if there is,could you give us any hints as to what it might be? Thanks

Most definitely. It was one of the high-points of C2 for collectors, and we are planning a figure that will be both exciting and germane to the Celebration and the saga.

Are the Celebrations expected to be continued beyond III, since all of the currently announced movies will have been out?

That's a great question. We'll look at how Celebration III comes off, and decide whether there is a big enough demand to continue such official gatherings of Star Wars fans on a slightly different scale in the future. If you're asking my personal opinion, I sure hope so!

Will that figure be available even if you don't go to the Celebration?

No, the special Celebration figure will only be available if you attend Celebration III. Or, if you want to pay inflated prices, I guess there's always ebay.

Will you show a more exclusive Episode III preview at Celebration III? Thanks

If you were at Celebration II, you'll remember the incredible eight minutes of digital footage that Rick McCallum brought with him. Whether that will happen again exactly like that, I just don't know. You can be sure that we will have a lot of exciting things to say and show about Episode III.

And don't forget, we will be at San Diego Comic-Con International this summer (July 21-25) in Force, and that will also be a great place to see and hear lots of exciting news from Lucasfilm and its Licensees.

Steve, Ian McDiarmid is one of the RAREST SW autographs to obtain, CAN YOU PLEASE try to get him for C3? Keep up the good work! thanx Curt Vigneri

I agree! I'd sure like to see him there and we will definitely work on it.

Will minors be allowed to attend without parental accompaniment?

We didn't have any age restrictions last time, and we won't this time. But, five year olds may want to have a parent along to share the excitement.

Did you get the chance to visit the set of Episode III last summer? Your impressions of what you saw?

I was lucky enough to accompany the editors of our world-wide fan magazines to the set last August. All I can say is OH MY ....

we will be at San Diego Comic-Con International this summer (July 21-25)

will the booth be there you be there everyday?

We'll be there every day and you can expect a major Star Wars presence both on the exhibit floor and in programming.

Hi Steve,
I'm from Germany and in April there will be the Jedi-Con 2004.
You are one of the guests (I'm really looking forward to you!). Please tell me, can we expect some kind of Episode III presentation or something like that?
See you in 3 months

Something like that. I look forward to seeing you there!

hey steve, first thanks for doing this. my question is this, what kind of special stuff is there going to be for fan club members? and is there going to be benefits for being a hyperspace member? thanks!

Yes, we are planning special benefits for both Hyperspace and Fan Club members at Celebration III. We're still currently working on the details of what exactly that will be, but it will be more than at Celebration II.

One request for guests : I for one would love to see Hayden & Mark Hamill on stage together. Father & son. What a sight that would be.

So would I! If you have any pull, let me know!

Thanks for coming, Mr. Sansweet!

I'm wondering when we'll be seeing the first teaser trailers and posters for Episode III. Have any design ideas been tossed around yet?

I think it's pretty safe to say you will see both of those things at around the same time we did them for Episode II.

Mr. Sansweet,

I'm looking for a website that sells autographed Star Wars and Indiana Jones posters. Can you recommend one? Thanks.

I can recommend that you don't buy any so-called "autographed" posters online. The only autographs that I trust are ones that are obtained in person. It seems to me that 99% of the Star Wars autographs on ebay are questionable. There are some legitimate dealers, but I am not comfortable recommending any names.

Any chance of expanding the gift shop area? Most things sold out so quickly last time!!!

Most definitely! That was a big problem and a lot of fans were disappointed. We plan to work on that and make sure that we have both an adequate supply of cool merchandise and lines that aren't out to the street. We also want to make sure that everyone who wants one of the exclusive action figures can get one.

Will Darth Vader feature prominantly in the advertising and products for Episode III?

What do you think?
What has been the best part of your job since starting with Lucasfilm?

The people, both here and the fans that I have met all over the world. That truly has been the high point.

what is being done about long lines to get in? i r4ead that it was like an hour just to get in the door to the convention center

That's a problem we are really going to try to solve this time. There is always a line the first day just when you have that many people trying to get in the first time all at once. That's one of the reasons we added an extra day to the convention, and we are devising plans to deal with the long lines inside the hall.

Will you play the part of a Bantha in my new film?

Thanks for asking, but my beard's not long enough yet.

Steve, thanks for doing this chat! I was wondering if Star Wars didn't exist, what would you be doing?

Any chance you'll be doing a cameo in Episode III?

Trying to figure out how to fill a 5,000-square foot barn! I can't imagine my life without Star Wars. It has provided so many opportunities and friends.

As for the cameo, why don't you petition Rick McCallum?

Are you planning to write any more Star Wars books?

Yes, thanks for asking. There are a couple of book ideas being kicked around now, and I'll be happy to talk about them once the contract is signed.

can I be your apprentice?

Sure! I need all the help I can get!

Any chance Hasbro will make action figures or the Holo Chess board characters?

We've been talking internally about what the best way would be to make holo chess figures. Should they be action figures? Small sculptures? Or what? Of course, we've been talking about this for many years, but I really hope that some day a licensee will come to us with just the right proposal.

Hi
I would like to know if international official fan club members (for example Mexico) will have the same benefits that members of the US official fan club will have. I mean, we can't be suscribers of the US official fan club because in our countries we have an official fan club and we hope that you count us as members of the official fan club

Excellent question. If you are a member of an Official Fan Club anywhere in the world, you will granted the same benefits as a member of the US club at Celebration III. We have to work out details, of course, but that is our plan.

Ever though about turning Rancho Obi-Wan into a tourist attraction and charging admission? I would pay to see your collection?

How much?

There a rumors about official stormtrooper armor, can you tell us if thats true?

I know there's a strong rumor about this, but there really is nothing to report on it. We consider lots of product from lots of licensees, and you can be sure that if and when something like this happens, you'll read about it here.

I'll probably only be able to make the Celebration for one or two days, if at all. Do you think there will be special events happening on different days that I might miss?

It's impossible to see everything even if you're there all four days, because there are so many programming tracks and other things to do. But every day you're there, there will be lots to occupy you.

We've just got a look at the new Storm/Clone Trooper on the cover of the upcoming SW Insider. Can you tell us if all the troopers have the eye visor or is this just an accessory that some of them have. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us.

It is just an accessory. Troopers know how to accessorize.

How about $11.38.

Do you want to take out that decimal point?

Will be an autoraph area with the actors like in CII? and are you planning special photos with the CIII logo as you did during celebration II?

Yes, and we expect it to be bigger than last time. I think it's safe there will be special photos for the actors to sign.

There has been VERY strong rumours that the "Originals" would come to the DVD format this fall (September 2004). Anything to share about that?

And any plans to release the Droids and Ewok Cartoons on DVD for the whide audience ?

(And don't forget the Ewok Movies!)

Heck, I'd even be happy with a DVD from the Holiday Special

All will be revealed...

When will the current SW licenses expire?

Different licensees have different expiration dates on their contracts. Hasbro's, for example, goes till 2018.

just love reading your SW Encyclopedia. It is the perfect coffee table book. Do you plan on doing an updated edition after the prequels are done?

There will almost definitely be an update but no decision has been made how it will be done or by whom.

Thanks, this has been great fun! Let's do it again sometime.
