IESB Exclusive: New Star Wars Animated Series On Its Way!
Wednesday, 17 March 2010 16:44    PDF Print E-mail

Yes, you are hearing right. IESB has exclusively learned that George Lucas is currently in pre-production on yet another Star Wars animated series. The key demographic? Pre-School to Kindergarten aged children, yes, the Star Wars: Galactic Heroes will be gracing televisions very soon.

The latest from Lucasland a.k.a. Skywalker Ranch is that a director has been brought on board to direct the new series based on the popular line of toys.

The working title for the TV series is believed to be "Squishies."

Uncle George has always had a soft spot for making more money, hmm, I mean children. No word yet if Cartoon Network or its WB sister companies will be airing the series.

A few years ago, when IESB broke the news that both a live action and an animated TV show were in development, we were quite excited about the possibilities, this one on the other hand, just seems like another way for the Lucas Empire to fill up their piggy banks.

I give an animated Indiana Jones TV series about 2 years before that gets announced.

Making money must be a faux pas in this day and age. I will have to quit my job, because society tells me that people who make money, are all crooked, evil and avaricious miscreants.

Heaven forbid, that Mr Lucas should be making some profit in this day and age. The man has half a dozen companies to run, staff to pay and a family to look after. People need to pull their heads out of their backsides, and take a look at the bigger picture.

Come on people! What stopped the head honchos by messing up Superman, Batman, Fantastic Four with Silver Surfer and the man Galactus! What stopped them from all the Sci-Fi/comic book related t.v. shows and movies! If this means more money, maybe "Sir" George Lucas will have the time invested for his Star Wars 3D movies and maybe for upcomming ones...say The Old Republic maybe??? Yeas, prequals were not like the original trilogy(I was 14 when I saw SW in 1977),I know all the true fans would agree about this. All I can say is this.. The ability to sell a good deal is insignifacant compared to the powers of Lucas himself. May The Force Be With You All!

I don’t begrudge Lucas making money, but one of the main reasons he got out of Hollywood was to escape the “Machine”. If this Squishy moves the story along, then good for him. If it is just to poop out more merchandise & advertising dollars, then shame on him for creating a new “Machine” on Skywalker Ranch.

This particular Galactic Heroes animated series will obviously be a hit for the Age 4-12 year olds. All my nephews collect them and can't wait to see the exclusives at the comic conventions. So when they hear this news, they're going to flip.

George Lucas made one of the most brilliant decisions early on in the 70's. When no one else cared about marketing Star Wars products, George saw potential and claimed marketing rights to every shirt and figure made. But since Star Wars was a hit worldwide, we are seeing the outcome of that decision. Lucasfilm marketing has become one of the best marketing companies using the "wave" idea to ship out products in continuous waves based on fan feedback. So instead of missing the boat on grabbing a figure off the shelf....or being sold out online, only to find yourself paying 5 times the retail price on Ebay....you can wait for a future wave to pick the figure up at regular retail price. But if you're a hard core collector and gotta have everything instantaneous...well, that's your decision. The fans & collectors want more....and George Lucas is giving us more...more films, more animated series, more toys.

Oh shutup Gordon, get over yourself. You're one of those uptight idiots. Every comment board has to have one of them. Really dude, your point is just idiotic. George Lucas already has enough money. Do you seriously think he needs this upcoming "Squishies" show to put food on the table for his family? No, I don't think so. So yeah, STFU and stop getting your panties in a twist over Star Wars fans once again bashing Lucas for milking Star Wars for all its worth and making the product progressively more kiddy.

Well, George Lucas has the right to do what he wishes with his Intellectual property. However, such a proposal raises two questions for me.

1) How will thy script a show for preschoolers in a setting that solves most problems with violence?

2)Won't listening to Yoda really screw with their speech development?

Look, GL is creating something here. Good for him. Better to be a creater than a hater. I've just about had enough of people complaining about what other people have or do. It's his. He made it. Get over it already.

You don't have to watch it.

Almost anything would have been better than this. How about a Knights of the Old Republic Animated Series or a Post-Jedi animated Series? That would have given fans something they hadn't seen before, would have "moved the story forward," and would give children and adults something to watch together. This feels like a cash in which will probably take place during the same time period as the current series. Give me a break.

Why not, they're well designed characters, and kids love 'em, and if it means keeping Star Wars alive for future generations, then good, I can see no harm in it at all. I agree with those that say give Lucas some slack, though in saying that, I'd like to give him a talking to about the atrociously unfunny Family Guy specials.... what was he thinking?

All these spin-offs of Star Wars are a waste of time and just more money in George Lucas's pockets. Just make Star Wars Episode VII,VIII,IX or a,"Sequel Trilogy" after Episode VI-Return of the Jedi. I want to see something in the Expanded Universe.
