Now we’re privy to information, but will mostly opt to keep our mouths shut. You just can’t run with everything you hear. Our good pals from other movie-news sites will tell ya the same. Some info turns out to be legit, some crap and everything else in between. And there’s stuff like Christopher Nolan producing the Superman reboot while prepping to direct Batman 3. Yeah, we heard that. But thought it was too crazy to be true. Cut to: it being fact. It’s with that in mind we thought we’d spill the beans on some recent unconfirmed (that is the key word here, boys and girls) rumors. Again it’s too crazy to be true. Or is it? OK. So we know David Goyer and Jonah Nolan are writing The Man of Steel and Batman 3. We’re hearing outta Burbank a key reason behind Chris’ "Godfather" role is to help out li’l brother Jonah. "Why’s that?" you ask. Because latest rumblings peg him to sit in the director’s chair for the Superman reboot. This, of course, would mark his directorial debut after working with his brother on three Batman films, The Prestige and not to mention his (ultimately un-credited) stint on Terminator: Salvation and writing Interstellar for Steven Spielberg. Jonah’s a solid writer, for sure. But making your first feature a no-doubt $200 million+ blockbuster tentpole with the intention of sequels down the line? Of course, this could just be a part of somebody’s wish list – maybe the studio or maybe "Godfather" Nolan. How about Chris himself? Sure, he’s helming Batman 3. But most of us assumed he was going to call it a day after the third installment. The whispers in our ear (again unconfirmed!) say Chris will shepherd his Batman and the next cinematic Superman (and presumably Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern, The Flash and others) towards a Justice League movie. That he will direct after The Man of Steel and Batman 3 are released. We’re talking one big monopoly or more appropriately Nolanopoly. "That’s too crazy to be true!" On the surface, we’d normally agree. But so far, nothing going on with the Brothers Warner and DC Entertainment fit what one would immediately expect. I say that as a good thing. Whatever the outcome of this latest updates (gospel or garbage), it’s good to see DC is finally catching up with Marvel in the blockbuster-movies department! IESB will keep you informed on further updates. Comments (21)

If it's true that Jonah is directing Superman under his brother's guidance, I think it's a fantastic idea on WB's part and support it wholeheartedly. Again, If true, I have complete and utter faith in Jonah.

I think it's good they Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are moving foward with,"The Flash." However I'm a bit skepitcal. Martin Campbell's Green Lantern film starting Ryan Reynolds is still casting and doesn't start shooting at the end of March in New Orleans. Wouldn't it make more sense (correct me if I'm wrong) to focus on one comic-book film at a time the simultaneously doing differnt DC comics book heroes with different directors at the same time? If they make all those Superhero films at the same time it going to be alot diffcult with concentrating billions of dollars of special FX into one movie at time. Green Lantern is an example with 32,000 special FX shots going to be shot for GL. I think WB and DC Entertainment should wait for Green Lantern to be made first. What ever GL grosses and profits should go towards the production of another superhero film. 1 at at time Warner Brox. 1 at a time of each solo project.

Actually, Nolan is not guiding Batman or Superman towards a JLA film. Nolan has already said in the past that his Gotham City exists in a world where superheroes DO NOT exist (aka the real world). Also, at this point Nolan has no connection with the production of "Green Lantern" or "The Flash" or any other titles for that matter.

Chris Nolan has done an amazing job rebooting the Batman franchise and I'm thrilled to hear that he will be overseeing the Superman franchise. I think Jonah Nolan would be a great selection to direct the Man of Steel because he understands the source material and how to properly make a superhero after working with Chris. However I don't see Chris Nolan directing the Justice League movie as much as I'd love to see it happen. I think he'll ultimately wrap up the Batman trilogy and move on to other projects. Maybe Jonah will get his feet wet with the Superman Franchise and end up directing the Justice League movie if WB is indeed interested.

If Chris Nolan's little bro gets to direct the new Superman movie, here's my dream cast: Anthony Hopkins as Jor-El, Bruce Willis as Lex Luthor, Dennis Quaid and Meryl Streep as the Kents, Joe Jonas as Superman/Kal-El/ Clark Kent, Ashley Greene as Lois Lane, Michael Cera as Jimmy Olsen, Jeff Goldblum as Brainiac, Philip Baker Hall as Perry White, and Jennifer Morrison as Lara. Makes for one big action-packed blockbuster event tentpole movie, huh?

Terminator: Salvation
That movie was a piece of shit. I don't have high standards for movies, but that was actually one of the most pointless movies I've ever sat through. So I would prefer to not have this guy...actually why are they making more goddamn Superman movies? I'm sick of Superman movies. What I really need in my life is more comic book movies I can't stand.

I hope the next Superman isn't about him saving Metropolis or America from Lex Luthor for the hundredth time. I mean, Batman could save a goddamn city so who cares right?
Maybe they could focus on Superman trying to deal with realistic world issues and all the complexities of our screwed up society, or even just finding his place in all of this mess. Show the character of Superman as an international symbol of hope instead of Americanized one-dimensional tool bag and this movie could connect with audiences deeper than any other superhero movie could ever dream of.

As much as I like the Nolan Batman films, they aren't perfect. And it's one thing to make a movie based off a character with no powers, but then they want him to oversee everything else and try to explain why there's no mention of Superman in the other films. This is what Marvel is trying to accomplish. Sure you might not see the Hulk in Iron Man and there might not be any mention of him, because maybe it's happening around the same time, but by the end they are eluding to other superheroes out there, probably part of government conspiracies and cover ups. They can't just have Superman show up and join forces with Batman like nothing's new, like they've known each other all along but neither one is mentioned in their prospective worlds. If they use a different cast than it says: different universe, same characters.

it's actually relatively easy to explain superman in the batman universe, make them roughly the same age, and towards the end of Batman three, show bruce wayne watching news footage of Superman being sighted, so then you can show that bruce wayne discovers superman the same way the rest of the world does.
Then you could have Clark Kent having to go do a story for the daily planet about Bruce Wayne, (maybe he's doing some project for wayne industries in Metropolis)

Nolan desecrated the Batman universe. And box office cash is the only redemption he has. Unfortunately, too many people don't care enough about the dark knight to preserve his presentation on film and are willing to accept Nolan's garbage. But time will show that The Dark Knight tried too hard to have the narrative twists of Heat and the Untouchables and failed miserably. Just like time proved Blade Runner to be better than what critics and audiences were saying at the time.

You can tell hardcore Batman fans because they know Batmam's history from the Golden Age to the modern age -- and there's certain things you just don't tamper with. You don't remove scallops from Batman's gauntlets. You don't add nipples and silver highlights to his costume. And you don't tweak Joker's backstory and remove his bleached skin replacing it with makeup. Even in the Golden Age Joker had Bleached White skin. In the modern Age, Killing Joke became canon so he still has bleached white skin. The result of a chemical accident. In Nolan's world, Joker is a simple thug in "war paint." It's not canon -- it's some egotistical director trying to leave his thumbprint on a franchise he never cared enough about anyway.

Yeah, Nolan was overrated definitely. The worse thing they can do is put these films under his supervision. I agree -- people are going to wake up and wonder what they ever saw in The Dark Knight. Soon it will just be a joke.

We’ve got to be living in an alternate reality like J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek - minus the starships and Karl Urban’s Bones McCoy. When did Warner Brothers suddenly get their crap together? In the last couple of weeks (particularly 48 hours) has come an onslaught of info regarding their plans for
Then again, maybe incorporating all these movies to one filmmaker's vision rather than finding a way to shoe-horn visions from five or so different directors into one Justice League movie is a good idea
