Back in 1988 DC Comics' Man of Steel was hitting his 50th anniversary, and what better way to celebrate than be given a brand-new Saturday morning cartoon show. Now fast forward 21 years and fans of all ages can finally join the celebration with the release of Ruby-Spears Superman from Warner Home Video and DC Comics'.
Debuting in 1988 Ruby-Spears Superman series brought back some of the villains we know and love, but also added some new faces into the mix for the last son of Krypton to battle against. Now not only did you get the action and adventure of Superman every week, but you also got see into the life of the Kent family as they Raised Clark from a baby to the Man you see today in mini segments called Superman Family Album which were at the end of every episode. My Two cents: With a price tag of $26.99 I was hoping to get a little more out of this DVD, only 13 episodes and one special feature that tells how they re-invented Lex Luthor to the man you know and love today, the CEO of the multi billion dollar company Lexcorp. Don't get me wrong it was awesome to see the Man of Steel kick some back side in every episode, just wish their was a little more meat on this bone. So all in all it was good, but unless you're a true die hard fan of Superman I'm going to have to say pass. The 2-disk 13 episode Ruby-Spears Superman will be available on November 3, 2009 for $26.99.
Cast: Beau Weaver ... Clark Kent/Superman Special Features: Corporation of the Corrupt: The Rise of Lexcorp
