Well not always but even at on his worst day Henry VIII was in the thick of it and probably enjoying every minute of it. In its first season The Tudors came out of nowhere to blow peoples minds with lavish sets and costumes while steaming up the glasses of even the more nerdcore historians. It ruled quite literally and now it’s back for a second feast of sinful delights.
I’m hard pressed to tell you what impresses me most about this show; fact versus fiction fun, the amazing production, or the top notch performances. I was lucky enough this time around to get a copy of season one (having missed out last time around) so I was able to absorb this thing all at once while alternating episodes of Swingtown (somewhat fitting actually). The show had been recommended to me many times and I was ready to se what all the fuss was about.
While the first season focuses more on the steamy sexual side of things the second season pushes more of the political aspect of Henry’s life to the forefront and shows you more about how he changed the world during his reign, not to worry it’s still got it’s fair share of hot and steamy (hell just look at the box cover..nice!).
The show really hits its stride this season and is just amazing to watch them twist and turn through the political fog. Filling the show with such praises the only real complaint I can find is thinking about how stunning this show is going to look in High Def later.
