Where the first two were directly interconnected this one takes the crew off into another direction once again facing off against The Evil MOM to stop another one of her sinister plots.
What’s amazing is how the writers keep finding new ways to loop the show back around to events within moments from the show; this time we learn more about Nimblers people and the crews first meeting with him. What’s even more amazing is that unlike other shows that try to go back and apply layers on top of old mythologies they can actually pull it off.
Now normally when the crew sets out to stop one of Mom’s evil plots they are acting in the best interests of all mankind; this time however it’s not that simple and the end result could very well bring life as we know it in the 30th century to a grinding halt. It’s a very chilling parable about our usage of natural resources and thankfully none too preachy. Also goes to show that even a millennium from now that we’ll probably be making the same dumb ass mistakes.
It wouldn’t be Futurama if it didn’t have some odd twist of course so this time around everyone gets bounced to a world much like a D&D quest where they have to face Mom’s dragon breath up close and personal. It’s a good adventure for the crew and one the fans will appreciate but it does make me sad that once again we are crawling closer to what could once again be the end for the crew of Planet Express. One can only hope they will announce another round of films before the end comes. But if not I’m happy they turned it around and gave us what equals a near full season. Buy It Now: Rating:
