This is a classic story of royal bondage and true love; you've seen it done many times but few have done it so well. Roman Holiday is one of those movies that everyone needs to check out at least once in their lifetime, if for no other reason than just to expand the world of classic cinema and romance.
When I was just a budding little Film Geek I came across Breakfast At Tiffanys and was instantly smitten with Hepburn, after which I did my normally film obsessive thing and started searching for other films with Hepburn. Keep in mind this was in the days before IMDB and had to be done via long trips to the video store or by *gasp* book (you kids have no idea how luck you are). Naturally one of the first film I found was Roman Holiday and once again I fell in love and began to wonder if Audrey wasn’t in fact some sort of royalty (Hollywood Royalty at least), she’s simply amazing to watch and films like this wouldn’t be nearly as good with someone else playing the role. No offence to Mr Peck he is part of the charm here as well and they have great chemistry here.
As Paramount gear up this new Centennial Collection they are clearly on the right track picking some movies that are just astounding works of film making and showcasing the art of acting. The movies look stunning and these have quite the assembled collection of extras. I cannot wait for the next round Buy It Now: Rating:
