- Deleted Scenes Version: Standard Review: Here's the thing; this movie was made for little girls ages 3 to oh I dunno whenever they out grown wanting to be princesses…ok 3 to 64. It’s for them and only for them.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
While Tinker Bell’s move to the big screen and a DVD series of her own has been a long and rough flight it’s finally made it off the ground. But will it crash and burn? Not likely. The movie is for lack of a better word “sweet”. If I had a little girl here in the house of M I’m sure I’d be forced into a gazillion viewings of this movie. I can think of worse fates to be sure.
The plot and characters are pretty simple and of course it carries a wonderful message right along with it. Can’t really complain or cheer for the movie in this respect. It simply exists for little girls and I can’t find any fault with it.
The only thing that’s taking some getting use to is…Tinker Bell talking. We’ve had a silent but lethal Tink for decades so why give her a voice all the sudden? Having seen Wall-E pull off an entire movie without much of a voice I’d think keeping Tinker Bell speechless wouldn’t be so tough to pull off. In any case they did at least find a very fitting voice for her in actress Mae Whitman (ID4) so it’s not all sour pixie dust.
Overall: If you have a little princess girl go make her happy and bring Tinker Bell home.
