Production Photo Galleries And More! Version: BluRay Review: I have a list of movies that I pop in when I'm feeling down or just in need of a laugh; it's a short list and rarely sees an addition to the ranks. One of the films on this short yet coveted list is Young Frankenstein. Sort of odd when I stop to think about it since two films on the list are black and white comedies that were made long after color came to be (the other is Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid in case you were wondering)
Growing up I loved my classic monsters and oddball comedy and my parents let me watch some really inappropriate stuff so I had nearly free reign for viewing and since I grew up in the age where rental stores boomed the video store was my playground. Naturally when I came across a VHS tape with the Words Mel Brooks and Frankenstein I snatched it up and my love affair with it began. Thankfully we had brought a VCR at the place and we had plenty of free rentals because I must have checked this thing out at least once a month until I found a copy for sale.
It’s a movie that has always stuck with me and one that I judge people based on. Honestly if you don’t like Young Frankenstein I’m not likely going to be friends with since clearly you have a defective sense of humor. Having it now on Blu Ray with it’s sharp picture and sound and loaded with extras is a little bit like being able to rediscover an old friend or getting that rip in your security blanket sewn up. It’s glorious and while it’s not full of the whiz bang stuff people reserve for Blu Ray it’s really one to pick up just to enjoy it for the quality of the film and dive into the special features.
