My morning started off like every morning here; waking up long before my body is ready for more. No hangovers just very little sleep and in a ton of pain. I forced myself up and got into Jack Bauer mode...which as worked out well since I was headed for a Breakfast Press Junket for Mirrors with Kiefer Sutherland moments later.
Last year I got to attend the Death Sentence Kevin Bacon and Eggs Press Junket, considering what a broke mofo I am I wish they had breakfast lunch and dinner junkets everyday of Comic Con. I'll sit through a press junket for Veggitales if it gets me fed dammit!
This year it was for a horror film called Mirrors staring Amy Smart, Keifer Sutherland directed by Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Hills Have Eyes). I'm a little bummed I didn't get to meet Jack Bauer personally but stood near by Keifer is a bit shorter than I expected..ain't that always the case? I did chat with Amy and Alex a bit. She is far prettier in person let me tell you?and Alex is far more French. HA!
Breakfast was good, nice to get fueled up before the long day ahead. Not sure how good idea is it to have food while watching clips from a horror movie but what the hell. The movie itself looks Jaw Dropping (literally in the case of one of the clips Featuring Amy).
After that it was off to Watchmen, where after having to name drop and pull a few Sith mind tricks I was let into Hall H with fewer delays than most of my colleagues down here..maybe it helped that the rent a cop at the door was about five foot nothing and weighted somewhere south of 80 pounds. I'm sure in my current state of sheer exhaustion
The Watchmen footage was nothing short of stunning. This thing is shaping up to be something so damn amazing (Read Watchmen Panel Breakdown HERE) March cannot come fast enough. Cannot wait until Wonder-con so I can begin officially stalking Carla.
The rest of the panels for the day were decent, The Wolfman looks pretty damn good and The Spirit was in the house but with no new footage to show off.
When I got back to the room I was informed I would be handling all the interviews for the following day...all the interviews on the busiest day of the convention for movies and everything else. It would be a day running a long gauntlet of a day.
Having partied every night so far and with a really stressful day to come I decided to slow my roll a bit and just take in a movie with my new flunky whom I call "Mini-Lohan". She's awesome, it's like having a 13 year old side kick with torretts syndrome (minus the swearing). The girl simply just doesn't have an off switch on her mouth and have more trouble staying on topic than I do (which is really saying something).
We got ourselves into a screening for Tropic Thunder. This movie is off the map; they had a special welcome to Comic Con clip at the beginning with Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Robert Downey Jr where they end up arguing acting nuts. At one point Robert offers a contest to spend a weekend with him as Tony Stark where he'll "Get Up In Ya". I wont spoil the suprises of the films beginning..just go see it.
It wouldn't be a trip to comic con with out more twists and turns than an M.Night movie. Walking back into the Hard Rock Hotel I run into Andy and Amy whom I haven't seen in about a decade (more in Amy's case). They had gone to San Diego for thier friends wedding. Congrats Again To The Newly Weds. I ended up hanging out with them until about 3am or so.
So I stumbled up to the room where I laid wide awake thinking about the day to come.
