Lets start by reviewing last night....
Due to time constraints, mix ups, and a pressing need to get my drink on. Fringe? Skipped. Tropic Thunder? Passed. DC Online Launch Party? Yes! Hangover? You BET!!
DC online was fun, the game looks pretty decent, and the drinks were free. Put that in the win column.
After the party, we took the long walk back. After hitting a quick shower I was out cold almost instantly putting a stop on my Jack Bauer clock for the moment.
It was short lived of course due to some car alarm going off?!...for like an hour!
Daywatch:
This is sort of a good news bad news situation. Good News: Free WiFi at Comic Con. Bad News: With so many people on it, it doesn't work. Somewhere in this building I'm betting there's a Naruto circle jerk..err..fan group downloading anime girl porn simultaneously guaranteeing their virginity and an upsurge in anime girl porn. A win win situation when you stop to think about it.
Ok perhaps I'm a little bit bitter. Just be nice to be able to get everything done in real time and not double up the workload.
As the day progressed and my headache lingered I was treated to the Fox Panel over in Hall H (My home away from home during this trip it seems) where they featured Day The Earth Stood Still, Max Payne...and a surprise (to most) visit from Wolverine.
Earth Stood Still looks like it's coming along great. I feared any idea of a remake of this classic scifi flick but this seems to have potential. (Read The Panel Breakdown Here)
Max Payne on the other hand looks freakin brutal and full of action. I was never fond of the game and lets face it how many good video game based movies are out there? I'm betting you wont need both sets of hands to count that. (Read The Panel Breakdown Here)
But the real prize of this panel was Hugh Jackman showing up to show some footage and talk to the crowd. (You can read my footage breakdown here) Afterwards with my laptop critically low on juice and without any sort of stable WiFi to be found I bolted from the Hall to get the info posted...and as luck would have it I ran into the press line interview (ok not so much luck as fortunate planning) area and Wolverine himself where I got to chat with the man himself about the movie and the footage. Mind you I talked with him for about five minutes he is just a class act cool mofo. "I don't wanna sound gay or anything but I'd totally do him." (He'd be bottom for the record)
Thankfully the Wolverine footage trumped the most of the panels I had been scheduled for the day..won't name names but it wasn't anything I wanted to see and leave it at that.
For my last panel of the day I got a look at a slew of new projects from Dark Castle. Some typical stuff that aren't worth mentioning, but they had with them footage from The Hills Run Red and Ninja Assassin. Hills Run Red looks pretty gnarly and bloody, but OMG!!! Ninja Assassin is going to be OFF THE CHAIN!! Not that they didn't have me sold at the word Ninja, this thing is directed by James McTeigue who did V for Vendetta..you do the math;
James McTeigue + Ninja?s = Fucking Awesome.
So once the "work" was done I had some free time during actual convention hours. YAY!! So I did what any good father does and ran around grabbing free swag for Pickle..he's going to be a happy camper when Daddy comes home. I even got a chance to try out some video game demos; Batman Lego is a blast and I think will come off better than Lego Indy did...but The Force Unleashed was amazing!! Finally you can do some jacked up stuff with the force and toss things around the room like a Sith having a temper tantrum. I got a look at Ghostbusters but wasn't able to play it without a long long wait, game looks good and I'm sure we'll have all three games in the House of M as soon as they come out.
Nightwatch:
It wouldn't be Comic Con if there wasn't entirely too many things to do at night. But with so much work and so little time normally the first thing on the list is a shower and food in whatever order is needed more first.
After getting a quick rinse off I headed down to a resteraunt called Dicks Last Resort (really) I met up with our Den Mother, Erin and Mini-Lohan (minds out of the gutter people it ain't like that) for dinner...later joined by Dirty Sanchez who proceeded to dump a cup of BBQ sauce on my crotch. Seventeen and a half gay jokes later I was fed and feeling better.
We headed off for the G4 party. Now I love G4 and I watch quite a bit of it. But that was one seriously lame party. After that we just made our way back to the Hotel to hang out, toss a few back, and get some Zzzzzz's.
Day One Is Over...
*With Any Luck I'll Have These In More Real Time*
