Color / Closed Captioned Special Features: • JOINING FORCES: The Batman’s Legendary Team-Ups – The producers and writers from the show have taken a page from classic DC Comics titles to present a series of team-up tales. Throughout the season, the Dark Knight joins forces with individual heroes from the DC Universe to fend off a whole new batch of super villains.
• The Batman: Justice League Profiles – This featurette covers the design and level of authentic detail, stemming from the comics to the screen in an installment of The Batman. Version: Standard Review: When "The Batman" series began I was honestly just dumbfounded. Didn't like the look, hated this re-imagining of The Bat. The WB had done such a great job with all it’s DC cartoons I just saw this as the unwanted red-headed step child.
However the boy took to this like a beast-boy to tofu pizza. So I tolerated it at first, and then I began to kinda dig this Batman. Sure it’s a lesser creation compared to the Batman Animated Series glory days but it became solid in its own right. When they came out with Batman VS Dracula I was just sold on it.
Over the years we’ve picked up all the seasons on DVD and they’ve seen a far amount of play in the House of M. So with some disappointment the final fifth season showed up on the same day as the final season of Teen Titans. A bittersweet day here let me tell ya.
We watched this last season back to back with Teen Titans and while the Titans had a very strong last season and finale. The Batman’s last hurrah was just the same as the rest and doesn’t have so much of a definitive ending. Sure it leaves promise of a possible Justice League in this Universe but it just sort of ends.
Now that’s not a bad thing, it’s a good season with plenty of surprises and fun for fans of the show. Plenty of Justice Leaguers show up along the way and Batman does what he does best…solve crimes and kick butt. I never thought I’d long for more of this Bat but I’d be down for a another season or three and that’s a compliment in and of itself. Buy It Now:
