It’s like falling in love all over again. 24 episodes of pure Muppet bliss. The boy and I got this set this morning and while we certainly have a lot more to go through there is no need to wait for a review on this one. It looks great, all of these seasons have been treated quite well for their debut onto DVD and this is no exception.
Sitting down to share these sets with my son makes me feel old and feel like a 7 year old again all at the same time and few things in the world can pull this off like the Muppets can.
The one thing I am noticing more and more is that while the show is just plain fun to watch and geek out over childhood (the parts I haven’t blocked out) memories, it’s that the humor is actually more adult then I’d guess. Oh sure it’s totally sugar coated but it’s pretty much universal themes told with Muppets. I dunno maybe it’s just me it has been a strange month.
Just check out the list of guest stars for this season:
Kris Kristofferson, Rita Coolidge, Leo Sayer , Roy Clark, Gilda Radner, Pearl Bailey, Jean Stapleton, Alice Cooper, Loretta Lynn, Liberace , Marisa Berenson, Raquel Welch, James Coco, Helen Reddy, Harry Belafonte, Lesley Ann Warren, Danny Kaye, Spike Milligan, Leslie Uggams with Big Bird, Elke Sommer, Sylvester Stallone, Roger Miller , Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, Lynn Redgrave , Cheryl Ladd
With a new Muppet Movie in the works and the sets doing well perhaps we’ll see more of our beloved Muppets in the future outside of the Sesame block. Either way these sets are amazing and will see a lot of spin time here at home. Buy It Now: Rating:
