Sneak peak at the next Futurama adventure. Version: Standard Review: Most of my friends know my love of all things Futurama, heck even as I write this I have a Horrible Gelatinous Blob within arms reach (minds out of the gutter!).
When the show went dark I was furious, The Simpsons had been running on fumes for years and Futurama had yet even had a bad episode. But last year at Comic-Con I was lucky enough to be in the crowd for the announcement that it would return once again. The world was right again and on top of that the Simpsons Movie came out and actually didn’t suck.
The Beast with a Billion Backs is the second of the planned four feature length films and like everything else it’s full of the good stuff. I’m almost sad again because this ride is half over yet again and no official word on any more in the works. If all else fails I’ll call up the hypno-toad and force them to get to work on more. In the meantime though we’ve at least got this second installment so lets talk about that some.
This time out the basic plot is: The Universe Gets Date Raped by an alien from another dimension. Oh no I’m not kidding he just wants to bang out a quick one with us and never call us again…and odds are will tell all the other Universes how slutty we are…which is kinda true.
They seem to be dumping most of the Fry and Leela sexual tension that’s gone on for most of the show and even the last movie, though I’d bet it’ll be back on again by the end of this run. Everyone gets some good moments on screen in this one, old favs and mainstays alike treat us to some classic moments and prove once again how damn good this show can be.
Even if you’ve never seen the show these movies are general enough to sit back and watch without doing your homework…but they are better if you have. After seeing the trailer for Bender’s Game I cannot wait to get my hands on the next one. Buy It Now: Rating:
