I have a few of his best of CD's and seen many of the films before they've shown up here in the cave, But I somehow missed the mini-series back in 92..odds are I was busy chasin skirts so Frank would have given me a pass it anyway.
While this mini-series feels like a glossy version of what Frank’s life was really like it’s still fun to watch his rise to fame, fortune, dames, booze, and rat packing pals. However glossy is what you are going to get from the boob tube and this holds up quite well to the likes of other bio series that have made their way to the small screen.
Philip Casnoff puts in an amazing performance as Ol’ Blue Eyes. Though there are moments where it slips and becomes more like an impression than a anything else. The rest of the cast put up their a-game and it really shows how they tried to respect the legacy of the man in question and the people in his life.
As much as this is an enjoyable look into Franks life I’m hoping for a big screen look into a much more unflinching look at the life of Sinatra. But until then this provides a nice morsel to chew on while you wait. Buy It Now: Rating:
