When Speed enters the elite Racing Academy, he shifts gears for a series of futuristic adventures that unite the classic fun of the original Speed Racer and the out-of-this-world excitement of virtual racing. Pulse-pounding trouble follows at every turn as Speed uncovers the secrets of his identity. Not only is the legendary Speed Racer his father, but also his top competition, X, is his brother! This movie is awesome! They made the monkey into a robot this time and the Mach 5 is totally different but it's still cool.

I've watched about half of this one myself so far and while the Mix Anime/CGI doesn't look great and the story feels sort of like scraping the bottom of the barrel the boy has been enjoying this one quite a bit and showing it to all his pals. So while the old school speed racer fans might not dig this they certainly hit a home run with the target crowd of kiddies.
Besides the only thing better than having a trunk monkey is a robot trunk monkey...and the only thing that would rock more than that is adding weapons.
