Leonardo DiCaprio Wants You To Read This!
Ok maybe saying Leo wants you to read this is a bit of an assumption on my part but for this I'm willing to make an ass outta u and mption. Ha Ha! I'm kidding Leo is standing over my shoulder as I type this breathing down my neck and I have to admit it's kinda turning me on. Oh boy...there goes most of the male half of my readers. Ok so for the four females and one guy still reading this....enjoy.
Being a huge documentary person I've been spending the last few weeks overloading my brain on some of the hardest hitting docs about the environment and just plain ol mother nature to prepare for Earth Day.
Thankfully the good folks at BBC and Warner have made my mission simple and easy by offering up some of the best in this category with an outstanding catalog of releases this month. While some titles have been around for a bit they are now offering them up in single disc sets to help spread the word for less cash. Though I would suggest picking up the full sets anyway because once you see something as stunning as any of the Planet Earth series you'll want the rest of the set as well and it's worth the cash. Heck it's worth it even if you just want to pick up something to show off that new high def system of your.
Here's a few to get you started; including getting to spend some time with Leonardo DiCaprio (Leo!), swimming with Sharks, diving into the depths of the ocean, soaring over the plains of Africa, and investing some time with Planet Earth.
I pride myself on being a pretty smart guy (not just a smart ass), but watching some of these I really felt humbled by what I simply had no idea about. Sure who would know the mating habits of some tiny bird in the rain forest nobody ever heard of but my son is obsessed with Sharks so we've done plenty of reading and watched plenty of other docs about them and Sharkwater just took me to school and showed me just how much I don't know. Which is what led to my article about Mini-Docs.
That said do yourself as favor and take a time out from the typical popcorn flicks, there's plenty of time for that with the summer movie season about to kick off, instead check on of these out, who knows maybe you'll learn something.
