As a Director Frank has had some hit or miss results, I mean come on he gave us The Dark Crystal and Little Shop of Horrors..but he also gave us that awful Stepford Wives remake.
Death at a Funeral hits about middle for his batting average; it's not great but it's certainly not bad. The movie has a great cast and a loopy plot that should have had a much different feel to it. Not sure how to pinpoint where it went wrong, however it just feels restrained some way.
The biggest issue holding the film back is that no matter how silly things start to get that it sort of just plods along instead of letting go and just enjoying the ride.
Death at a Funeral is worth checking out, just be in the mood for a slow comedy. Buy It Now: Rating:
