Welcome to the first ever Film Geekz reader review and comments section!
For months all of us internet writers have been all over this movie, digging for info, sending spies to the shooting locations, bribing people for info, I even stop giving hand-jobs for crack and switched to giving hand-jobs for Cloverfield scoops.
In the next 48 hours the internet is going to be full of our cheers and rants on this movie (good or bad), but it'll be the masses that push this movie into history or slam it down to becoming a Hollywood punch line so we want to open up this up to hear YOUR thoughts and comments on the film (good or bad).
Back when I pitched the idea of Film Geekz to Robert I told him while I really want a place to run my mouth about all things movie and geek related (and do I ever!) I really wanted to build a community of people that either just love the cinema or geek culture (with any luck both). A place where people can be a part of the goings on of the site and not just a viewer of the material. Sure other sites have comments, or talk back, or forums and some are even a lot of fun. But I don't think any of them have the level of interactivity that I'm dreaming about. They are all either forums that take place behind the scenes or just vile pits of vicious and vulgar people you wouldn't want to spend two minutes with in real life...even if they are fun to read.
I don't think I'm the only person in the world that dreams of belonging to a community like I am describing, so with that all said I think its time we started breaking ground on our digital home away from home.
So without further ado I give you the first Film Geekz reader review and comments section!

No.3 Two Toes Up From The Dude.
Shakey cam is going to be trouble for some, if you got sick at Blair Witch you'll hurl here too. Thankfully I'm not one of those who do. This movie rocks! Totally seeing it again to look for all the hidden Lost clues. Thanks for the free poster at the screening tonight!

No.4 Cloverfield...
It's so weird, having finally seen it. There was so much speculation. Was it Voltron? Was it a monster movie? Was it a terrorist attack film? I knew there would be no giant combining robot lions (sadly), but in the opening moments of the film's "action" I had to wonder... maybe it was a "2nd 9/11" film... alas, I'll leave it spoiler free, but I recommend seeing the film if you're looking for something different and fresh, because the stylistic "home movie" editing is unique (barring Blair Witch). The movie has it's share of flaws but the intensity and the rawness of the emotions will leave you holding your breath a few times.

No.5 Secret Message (end of credits)
I do not wish to give away any spoilers but did anyone hear the message at the end of the credits? It was after the song ended You could faintly hear a brief radio message. My theatre was too loud and I'm hoping someone caught it

No.7 My opinion
I normally do not like the intense scary movies but I had to see this one. I was not disappointed and I would see it again.

No.8 on monster movies
Of the monster movies I\'ve seen recently, this comes in second to Trash Film Orgy\'s Monster From Bikini Beach. (MFBB didn\'t make me feel sick AND it has bare boobies!) I would have liked this movie a lot more if it didn\'t give me motion sickness. (But it still would have come in second.)

No.9 HUD love
The movie was great. Wasn't disappointed by the monster, as I expected to be. Too much shaky on the handcam (isn't there a new anti shake technology? Come on!), but that aside, well done. Hud, the comic relief, balanced out all the tension perfectly. 'Cause flaming homeless people really are freaky.

No.10 One qualm...
Where were the trailers? I had to go to youtube to find the Star Trek trailer being shown before Cloverfield... both are JJ Abrams films... so what's up with that?

No.11 Great!!!!
The Movie immediately sucks you in. It had all the action, comedy, suspense, and romance you need in a movie. About half way through it i the home video shooting got to me and i started to feel sick, but after closing my eyes for a while i was good to go.

No.12 Woot Woot! (spoilers)
Shakey cam gets to be a bit much on parts of this movie, but you just cannot look away! The Monster is scary as hell and given all the viral videos about oil rigs sinking (in Italian) might be a big clue about the possiblity of multiple monsters attacking around the globe (the title card does read multiple sightings of designate Cloverfield.) or just that the one that hit NY traveled a bit before going on land.
With a sequel in the works maybe time will tell.
Who knows there is a possiblity that they filmed a \"normally\" shot movie while making Cloverfield and we\'ll see the NY attack from the military\'s side of things. Be a trip to catch glimpses of Rob and the gang running about in it.
Cloverfield lived up to all its hype, and you get quite a bit of the monster..you see inside its mouth, what more do you want really? (it needs to floss more by the way)
I\'m betting this movie takes in some serious green this weekend, but drops off a bit next weekend as the hype cools. Sad part is Rambo will take the top spot and be hyped as the Cloverfield killer..which will be sad considering is something so lame as Rambo. \"Let the bodies hit the floor\" I guess.
Catch Cloverfield before someone gives it all away for you.

No.13 eehhh
i thought the plot of the movie was good but the camera gave me a queezy feeling in my gentles,it kept me etertained, sick, and horny and at the screening in davis i raised my hand as high as possible and still did not get a poster, the monster was cool but could have been awesome if it was godzilla. if i had to rate the movie 1-5 i would give it a 4

No.14 Cloverfield Sucks!!
i got back from watching cloverfield. DEFINITELY the dumbest movie i've ever seen, it has no plot, no story, no ending. it had a dumb turantula that came outta nowhere, and a group of people who are running away. the end, everybody dies. if i was rating it outta 5, it won't even make it to 0 !!

No.16 Believe The Hype
The most original monster movie ever, it wasn't Godzilla but yet it was. It was funny, it had emotion and scared the shit out of people. Damn great job Mr. Reeves now bring a sequel.

No.18 Thanks! - Great film
Just wanted to tell you guys thanks for the screening last week! It was great, had a blast and was very cool to walk out with an actual Cloverfield poster! Onto the movie - It was really good in my opinion! I thought the handcam might bother me, but it didn't once the movie got going, the action was non-stop, and the monster was utterly alien. I really enjoyed the movie, and the experience with the audience. The Filmgeekz rule! I will come to your screenings anytime guys!
