Kenneth Branagh's THOR is well underway and set to start shooting mid-January of next year.

Natalie Portman was cast as Jane Foster, who was originally the love interest for the human Donald Blake whose body was used by Thor when he came to Earth, however in a statement, Marvel said, "The character will be updated for the feature adaptation."

During her press tour to promote her latest film "Brothers" Portman also said her good friend Kat Dennings was also on board the Marvel project.

Dennings is best known for her turn as Nora in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" as well as the short haired feminist in "House Bunny."

Portman told the news to MTV, "Well I'm really excited, Kat Dennings is going to be in it with me and she's a good friend and an amazing actress, so I'm looking forward to that."

She also talked about working with Kenneth Branagh as the director, "Well, I was really excited when they told me Kenneth Branagh is directing it because it seemed like such a smart choice but such an unexpected choice, that it was like 'This is really weird. I have to try this.'"
