Last Friday night The most brutal metal band in the galaxy descended upon a sold out audience at the Los Angeles Wiltern LG. Fronted by creator Brandon Small and 3 brothers of destruction, They proceeded to pummel fans for a wicked 90 minute set Check out the photos of the night Here!
The night was young, but the fans were already drunk with anticipation for their beloved animated band. The pit was spilling out with sweaty smelly and painted metal fans, and even a couple "Rock and Roll Clowns" all of them here for one thing, and one thing only, to watch the most brutal Death Metal Band in the galaxy destroy the stage and screen with their screeching guitars and Hallowing Screams. Almost monk-like, the chants of Dethklok bellowed from the crowd.
The show started with a quick animated short detailing the plot from the "guild" to destroy Dethklok by spraying chemicals on their fans thus turning them into mutants. This animation played in the background while Brandon and his shadow band belted out favorite songs from the Best Selling "Deth Album" Some of which included "Awaken" "Dethwater" "Mermaider" and of course "The Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle"
Eating up every thump and scream, the mutant audience moved as one with their fists in the air and heads banging in unison. However not once did I see a mosh pit. It seemed that this breed of metal freaks were more into the cartoon playing behind the band, than rushing around like idiots trying their best to crash into each other. Could this be the evolution of Metal?? Probably not, however, anyone that is a fan of the adult swim show "Metalocalypse" should not miss this tour. It is equally as entertaining if not more so than the animated show.
Make sure to check out the new season of the show on Sundays at Midnight, and if you get a chance to see the fictional reality that is Dethklok in concert, make sure you dont pass it up!
